My media love affair was first sparked when independent film also meant linear and analog. I debuted with Cosmic Hex as a production coordinator (credited as 2nd Assistant Italian) on the 16 mm black and white feature “A Lovely Sort of Death”. Was it was the purr of the Bolex, the flatbed editing or now totally obsolete optical printing, I can’t tell you. I do know that the packed house premiere in the historic SF Clay Theatre was hypnotic and sealed my fate.

Fast forward, my career has hop-scotched from production, management, publicity, strategy and development in the fortune 500 realm. I have been whipped and worked with and by the best of them, from Peggy Klaus the Coaching and Communication Guru to Terry McMillan queen of PR, transformation and branding of one of the toughest industries around: publishing. My creative portfolio is diverse, including 8 years with New York Times best-selling author Terry McMillan, birthing a SF Film Festival (www.deadchannels.com; development consultant and PR specialist, responsible for successful press placement and key sponsorships) and documentary projects as SodaSoap’s The Refugee All Stars(www.refugeeallstars.org; grant-writer and development consultant, raised over $85,000 in finishing funds, including a prestigious Sundance Doc Fund grant) and Gryphon Pictures’s Clare (www.gryphonpictures.com; development consultant and PR specialist. My input has been vital to strategic development in raising seed money, attracting investors as well as press coverage.

Beyond the Indie film and publishing realm I have tenured as a copywriter and brand strategist with award winning ad agencies, most notably ATTIK (www.attik.com) and Glow Marketing (www.glowmarketing.com). I also served time in Silicon Valley under the MIH / Naspers umbrella as ‘Operations Coordinator’ (a titled that allowed management to justify head count and the freedom to manage software development and UI projects as well as write corporate communications and technical copy) at MediaZone.com. With so many new tools to traverse the web 2.0 and mobile terrains, I don’t see my multi-media romance fizzling anytime soon. And did I tell you I wrote, directed and produced a play (The Ball & Daisy Chain) that sold out all 4 performances in the 2004 SF Fringe Festival?
